Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Part-time Support Staff Position

DESCRIPTION:

The role of the Socio-Emotional Support Staff at Highland Hall includes:

· Participating in training, along with ongoing on-campus mentoring, for deepening an understanding of Waldorf pedagogy in order to gradually move into teaching SEL classes.

· Helping to further develop SEL curriculum for grades 1-8

· Training in the Mindful Schools Program in order to gradually move into teaching SEL classes.

· Understanding in the CASEL framework of SEL programming in order to gradually move into teaching SEL classes

· Teaching with the lead SEL teacher (in collaboration w/the Class Teacher) in the classroom.

· Working with the high school counselor, as needed, as role expands

· Training and participating in the Restorative Practices Program

· Administratively supporting the lead SEL teacher with monitoring and fulfilling grant requirements

· Administratively supporting the lead SEL teacher with scheduling Highland Hall (HH) adult education programming

· Administratively supporting the lead SEL teacher with outreach efforts to expand adult programming outside the HH community

· Administratively supporting the lead SEL teacher with scheduling outside adult education programming

In addition, this staff member will use pedagogical knowledge, professional counseling background, and interpersonal skills to serve the greater community as the role expands into teaching and presenting.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have or be willing to train in and develop their own mindfulness practice.

This support staff may be asked to attend occasional Meetings: Whole School, section, DEI, or CARE Committee.

Schedule: TBD, but 25 hours per week, 37 weeks (school year)

REQUIREMENTS:

· Master's Degree in counseling

· Understanding of Waldorf education and willingness to further this knowledge with ongoing mentoring

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $50.00 per hour
