The Opportunity
Kā Huanui a Tāhuna is an alliance established in November 2020 between Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, along with four design and construction companies - Beca, WSP, Downer New Zealand and Fulton Hogan. The programme of works includes Queenstown Town Centre Street Upgrades, Queenstown Town Centre Arterial – Stage 1, Lakeview Infrastructure, NZ Upgrade Programme (NZUP) – Queenstown Package, and Wakatipu Active Travel Network.
This exciting and challenging programme of work aims to improve safety and accessibility, enable an improved public transport system, provide more options for walking and cycling, and benefit the community and its visitors.
The programme will play a vital role in helping to stimulate the wider Whakatipu economy and support the region to recover from the effects of COVID-19.
Construction started in January 2021 and will take around four years to complete.
What you’ll bring to the table
A Project Engineer who enjoys variety and working on challenging projects, you will get busy managing cost, working to budget and providing progress reports. Get involved in procurement of material, plant and resource, and play a key part of planning and programming to deliver to project outcomes on the NZUP Programme. Your drainage, pavement and utilities focus will be an asset to our team.
You’ll be a tertiary qualified Civil Engineer with at least 4 years + post graduate experience, offering a depth of expertise in a range of construction civil projects and project delivery. Exceptional at building and maintaining strong working relationships with your team and a range of key stakeholders, your focus on project outcomes, sharp commercial eye (including cost control and programming), and desire to finish projects on time, within budget and provide a quality project are strengths you are known for.
